Community Outreach
ICAN works to encourage organizations across the state to get children outside. ICAN seeks to build collaborations and networking with youth serving organizations, churches, families, museums, environmental groups, sports organizations. If you are interested in getting involved helping with the calling to have children connect with nature or you want more information on why this connection to nature is important ICAN has an activity.
Our community engagement can be summarized into 3 categories with room for expansion.
Quarterly Brown Bag lunches
This is an informal opportunity to network with others who are also interested in getting children connected to nature. The locations offer community opportunities to see facilities who work with children and what they are doing. Signing up on our website will put you on our invitation mailing list to receive information regarding the Brown Bag lunches.
Presentations and booths at community events or conferences
hosted by ICAN volunteers educate our community on the importance of this time spent outdoors and encourages people to spend time outdoors. We discuss the benefits of outdoor play, how to overcome the barriers to getting outside, and provide ideas to engaged children in outdoor exploration. If you are interested in helping at a booth or with a presentation or would like us to present please contact [email protected]
