2018 Nature Play Day Host Survey
Thank you for hosting a NPD this year! Your completion of this survey is critical in helping us improve NPD's but also for collecting information that will be critical to securing grant funding to support NPD and ICAN efforts.
Reflections from ICAN:
This is our third year of Nature Play Days and we've learned new things each year. In 2018 we added an option for organizations submitting 5+ events to submit their events in one batch via an excel sheet. We received a small grant from ALDI to print "Nature Play Day Host" decals, ICAN decals, and #ICANPLAY30 stickers. An online form was available to request these items for your event. Next year we hope to streamline this process. There were 166 registered Nature Play Days in 2018 and several communities formed coalitions to host dozens of events with programming like "NPD Passports."
Of course there are improvements to be made. Communication continues to be an issue as we are not always sure of the true delivery rate of our emails. We've found that government and organization servers with heavy spam filters usually block our messages (
see our blog post about how to fix this here
). Additionally, ICAN is a passion project for a small group of volunteers and the NPD group is even smaller. Limited resources and "hands on deck" challenge our ability to promote events and communicate as effectively as we like. We are working on an updated plan for 2019 to make NPD's even greater. We also hope to expand to areas of the state that are currently not hosting NPD's. Of course, we welcome volunteers who can lend their time and talents to help us make NPD's a success. We appreciate you taking the time to complete this survey so we can incorporate your feedback into that plan.
